Project Status: Project is complete.

Why is MoDOT doing this project?

Construction for a new Route 13 will help reduce congestion, improve existing public safety and improve economic development opportunities.

How does this project benefit me?

The first leg of a new Route 13 east of Warrensburg, known as the East Loop, will move through-traffic away from stop-and-go congestion in downtown Warrensburg. The south portion of the East Loop, from Route 50 south to existing Route 13 near Route Y, will be a two-lane roadway with the right of way for a future four-lane highway.

What is the project time line?

Construction of the new 7-mile-long segment of the Route 13 East Loop is expected to be complete late 2010.

  • May 1, 2009: Start of excavation for US 50 bridges
  • Construction of the bridge over Bear Creek and UP railroad in 2009
  • October 31, 2009: US 50 open to two-lane traffic in each direction on new bridges and rebuild eastbound lanes
  • Excavation work will proceed north to south in 2009 and early 2010
  • Rest of bridge construction in 2010
  • Paving in 2010, finished by fall

How is this project funded?

$27,153,931.66 of Amendment 3 funding includes the design, right of way acquisition and construction of a two-lane, two-mile section of the East Loop, from Highway 50 to Route DD.
